Jan Gan Man English Secondary School recently conducted a comprehensive fire safety training session for its students. The session was designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills to prevent fires, respond effectively in an emergency, and ensure their own safety and the safety of others.
Date: November 15, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: School Playground and Auditorium
Conducted by: A team of certified fire safety professionals
The main objective of the training was to instill a strong sense of awareness and preparedness among the students regarding fire hazards. The session aimed to:
Educate students on common causes of fires in school and at home.
Teach them how to identify fire hazards and take preventive measures.
Provide practical training on the proper use of fire extinguishers.
Explain the importance of a clear evacuation plan and conducting fire drills.
Empower students with a calm and confident approach to fire emergencies.
The training was divided into two parts: a theoretical session in the auditorium and a practical demonstration on the school playground.
In the auditorium, the fire safety team gave a presentation on the 'Stop, Drop, and Roll' technique, the 'R.A.C.E.' acronym for fire response (Rescue, Alarm, Confine, Extinguish), and the importance of knowing emergency contact numbers. The presenters used visual aids and real-life examples to make the information relatable and easy to remember.
The practical session was held on the playground, where students were given a chance to use a fire extinguisher on a controlled fire. Under the close supervision of the trainers, they learned the 'P.A.S.S.' method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep). This hands-on experience was a highlight of the session, building confidence and reinforcing the theoretical knowledge.
The fire safety training was a highly successful and engaging event. Students not only learned crucial safety protocols but also gained hands-on experience that could be invaluable in a real emergency. The session reinforced the school's commitment to creating a safe and secure learning environment.
The fire safety training session was a vital and well-received initiative. The knowledge and skills imparted will help students protect themselves and their communities. We look forward to making this an annual event and continuing our efforts to promote safety education within our school.
