Mahaveer Jayanti

Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most important religious festivals in Jainism. It celebrates the birth of Lord Mahavir, the 24th and last Tirthankara (spiritual teacher) of Jainism. The day holds great significance for Jains all around the world and is marked with devotion, peace, and spiritual reflection.

Lord Mahavir was born in 599 BCE in Kundagrama (present-day Bihar, India). He renounced his royal life at the age of 30 to seek spiritual awakening. After 12 years of deep meditation, he attained Keval Gyan (infinite knowledge) and spent the rest of his life preaching the path of righteousness and self-discipline.

Mahavir Jayanti usually falls in the month of March or April, as per the Gregorian calendar, and on the 13th day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra in the Hindu calendar. In 2025, Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 10th April, 2025.

The Jan Gan Man English Secondary  School celebrated MAHAVIR JAYANTHI. During this celebration Teja Didi preached about them to be kind, truthful, respect, self-discipline etc. Afterwards short stories of Vardhaman Mahavir were shown to students of grade 1st to 8th.

Mahavir Jayanti is not just a religious festival; it is a celebration of peace, compassion, and spiritual growth. Lord Mahavir’s teachings of non-violence and truth remain deeply relevant even in today’s world.

Mahavir Jayanti is a sacred and joyous occasion for Jains and all those who revere the values of peace, tolerance, and spiritual purity. It continues to spread the universal message of Lord Mahavir, making the world a more compassionate place.
