Jan Gan Man English Secondary School successfully organized a hands-on Seedball activity for its students, aimed at promoting environmental conservation and practical learning about afforestation. The initiative was conducted under the expert guidance of Mr. Prashant Surve and Mr. Jaysukh Bhalala, who shared their knowledge and passion for sustainable ecological practices.
Date: July 04, 2025
Time: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Location: School Garden Area
Conducted by: Mr. Prashant Surve and Mr. Jaysukh Bhalala
The primary goal of the Seedball activity was to provide students with a tangible and fun way to contribute to a greener environment. The session aimed to:
Educate students on the importance of reforestation and biodiversity.
Teach the simple and effective method of creating seedballs.
Instill a sense of ownership and responsibility toward the environment.
Explain the role of native plant species in a local ecosystem.
The event began with an introductory talk by Mr. Prashant Surve and Mr. Jaysukh Bhalala, who explained the concept of seedballs and their benefits. They provided a detailed demonstration on how to mix soil, compost, and seeds to form the seedballs.
Students were divided into groups and, with the guidance of the mentors, eagerly participated in the hands-on creation process. They learned which types of seeds are best suited for the local climate and how the clay-based ball protects the seeds until the first monsoon rains. The activity was highly engaging and sparked numerous questions from the students about germination and plant care.
The Seedball activity was a great success, transforming a simple environmental lesson into an interactive and memorable experience. Students left the session with a deeper understanding of ecosystem restoration and the knowledge that they can make a positive impact on their environment through simple, collective action.
The Seedball activity was a highly effective and well-received educational initiative. The guidance of Mr. Prashant Surve and Mr. Jaysukh Bhalala was invaluable, inspiring students to become active participants in environmental stewardship. We are confident that this experience will motivate our students to continue their efforts in making our community greener.
