On October 20, 2025, the students of Jan Gan Man English Secondary embarked on an educational and recreational study trip to Monteria Village, a tourist attraction located in Kalote Rayati, Khalapur, Maharashtra. The primary objective of the trip was to provide students with a holistic learning experience that combined adventure, cultural immersion, and an understanding of rural life and traditional skills. The excursion proved to be an enriching and memorable day for all attendees.
Upon arrival, students were enthusiastically engaged in a variety of traditional games and recreational activities. These group-based games fostered a spirit of teamwork and healthy competition, allowing students to interact with their peers in a relaxed and playful environment outside the formal classroom setting. The laughter and camaraderie throughout the day were a testament to the success of these activities in promoting social bonding.
The students enjoyed a refreshing break at the village's well-maintained swimming pool. This provided a perfect opportunity for relaxation and leisure, allowing them to cool off and unwind from the day's activities. The time spent at the pool was a highlight for many, offering a chance to de-stress and enjoy themselves with friends.
A significant part of the trip was dedicated to a range of adventure sports. Activities such as rock climbing, ziplining, and obstacle courses were designed to challenge students both physically and mentally. These sports not only encouraged a sense of adventure but also helped in building self-confidence, trust, and problem-solving skills as students navigated the challenges together.
Monteria Village provided a unique window into local culture through various art shows and live demonstrations. Students had the opportunity to witness traditional dance forms, folk music, and skilled artisans at work. These cultural shows provided valuable insight into the rich heritage of Maharashtra, creating a deeper appreciation for local arts and traditions.
A core educational component of the trip was the hands-on experience in farming. Students were guided through the village's fields and learned about different crops, agricultural techniques, and the journey of farm products from the land to the market. They were shown various products derived from farming, gaining a firsthand understanding of the connection between rural life and the items we use daily. This session was highly informative and aligned with the curriculum's emphasis on environmental and social studies.
The trip also included interactive workshops focused on various traditional skills. Students observed and learned from local artisans, witnessing demonstrations of pottery, weaving, and other crafts. This exposure to manual skills and craftsmanship highlighted the importance of vocational work and the value of creating products by hand.
The study trip to Monteria Village was a resounding success, offering a perfect blend of learning, fun, and adventure. It provided students with practical, real-world experiences that complemented their classroom studies. The trip successfully achieved its objectives of promoting teamwork, fostering cultural appreciation, and providing valuable insight into agriculture and traditional skills. The memories and lessons learned from this day will undoubtedly stay with the students for a long time.
